Why Did Abraham Stop at Ten?
Genesis 18:32- 33, "Then he [of course, being Abraham] said, 'let not the Lord be angry and I will speak, but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?' And He said, 'I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.'" So the Lord went His way as soon as He had finished speaking with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place."
Now Abraham stood outside of Sodom, pleading with God for the sake of the righteous in the city. The question I ask you today is, why did Abraham stop at ten? You and I know there are at least four righteous people in the city, including Lot's wife and two daughters. Abraham was only six souls short of victory.
You know, sometimes we can stop in our prayers just short of the victory. If he would have continued in his prayer to God, perhaps history would have recorded something very, very different for the city of Sodom. We're living in a dangerous time, my friend.
It's time to pray.
