When A Sleeping Church Awakes

Jonah 1, halfwaythrough verse five, starts with these words: “But Jonah had gone down into the lowestparts of the ship, had lain down and was fast asleep. So the captain came tohim and said to him, ‘What do you meansleeper? Arise, call on your God. Perhaps your God will consider us so that wemay not perish.’”

It'sastounding how the one with a connection to God and the answer to alife-threatening moment chose to sleep instead of pray. It took the cry of theunsaved to wake him finally and to reconsider his calling.

The cries of the unborn to the afflicted and those losinghope, the pleas of this hour, are calling us to pray. It's time for the church of Jesus Christ to riseagain and reclaim our God-appointed place inhistory.

It'stime to pray.
