What Manner of Man is This
The Gospel of Luke chapter eight, verses 24 and 25: "And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, 'Master, Master, we are perishing!' Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. But He said to them, 'Where is your faith?' And they were afraid, and marveled, saying one to another, 'Who can this be?'" Or, as the King James Bible says, "What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him."
The scene began with a cry of despair, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" How hopeless the moment seemed, and how fearful we often, too, can be. Sometimes in our darkest moments, we see the power of God towards us the most clearly; when that which we thought would take away our hope and our future suddenly loses its power right before our eyes. You and I, as they did, should ponder the one who so loves us with such awe that we begin to believe with God all things are possible.
It's time to pray.
