Jesus said that He is the way, and there is no other way to the Father, except through Him. The religious system of His day had created another way for salvation, and it was that system that crucified Jesus. Today, the narrow path that Jesus prescribes for us is despised and rejected again. Many are in grave danger of being on a wide path that doesn't lead to God's acceptance and tolerance, as some claim, but it leads to eternal destruction.
