Learn to Sing in the Morning

Psalm 59, beginning at verse 15: "They wander up and down for food, and howl if they are not satisfied. But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble. To you, O my strength, I will sing praises; For God is my defense, my God have mercy."

In the midst of a society that's becoming increasingly evil, David exhorts us to start our day with singing. The reason is simple. God has promised to keep us no matter how dark the day around us gets. Even birds begin their days with song. Perhaps they know something that we tend to forget. God has promised to both keep them and feed them. Maybe, just maybe, we could say it's time for some of us to get some bird brains and start our day with song.

It's time to pray.
