History Shows the Way

The book of Esther chapter four, verses 14 to 16: "'Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?' Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai, 'Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Susa, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!'"

History teaches you and I that we're not helpless victims on the sidelines watching time unfold before us. That is, of course, unless we choose to be. In the case of this young girl, Esther, she chose to fast and pray while casting in her life to approach the king for the sake of others. In a dark and perilous time, self-preserving Christians are like salt without taste and lamps without light. Esther made the right choice and ended up changing the law and preserving her people.

It's time to pray.
