Are You Lonesome Tonight?
Matthew 25:30 says these words: “And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
“Are You Lonesome Tonight?” was the final song that Elvis Presley sang before he died. It was a sad moment where he forgot the words and seemed to be laughing and muttering to himself. Taking one final moment to bask in the adoration he seemed to so desperately need, he headed off into eternity. He’d known the truth but chose the fleeting adoration of man over the reproach of Christ.
I don’t know his final moments, but if the outer darkness is his eternal home, a place with a total absence of all comfort, I can’t help but wonder—Elvis, are you lonesome tonight?
It’s time to pray.
