Acts2:1-4 says, "When the day ofPentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place, andsuddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and itfilled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to themdivided tongues as of fire and sat upon each of them, and they were all filledwith the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gavethem utterance."

These people were raised under oppression. The rules were being dictated bya godless society called Rome. After Jesus was resurrected, He told the people to gather and wait until they were givenpower from God to be the full expression of what God had determined in their lives.

The point is they were no different than weare today. They needed God just the same way that we do. Let's start to gather, wait,and believe.

Proverbs3,beginning at verse five: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not onyour own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths."

Proverbs14 and verse 12 tell us that though we have many ideas about securing our futures, none of them lead to life, especially the newlife God promised will be ours. It's soimportant to let Him lead. The pathway He has for your life is most likely something, somewhere you haven't even considered yet.

I cantell you one sure thing: God’s pathway for your lifeis incredible. It's supernatural, fulfilling,steady, and daily, and full of new andwonderful surprises. It's time to trade upyour path for His.

Proverbs1,beginning at verse 15, says, "Myson, do not walk in the way with them, keep your foot from their path, fortheir feet run to evil and they make haste to shed blood. Surely in vain, the net isspread in the sight of any bird."

Can anyone arguethat birds are anything but a wonder designed andenabled by the Creator? They have abilities of which the rest of us can only dream.Their instincts allowthem to elude man's schemes to take themcaptive.

As believers in Christ, we arealso divinely enabled to live in freedom unless we choose to embrace thecrooked reasonings of the fallen society that is all around us. Read Proverbs1:10–19. Ifwe yield to this fallen world's greed and resentments, we are indeed caught in their net.

2Corinthians 3:17–18: "Now, the Lord is the Spirit, and where the spirit of the Lord is, thereis liberty. But we all, with unveiled face beholding as a mirror, the glory of the Lord are being transformed intothe same image from glory to glory, just as by the spirit of the Lord."

Do youever feel that you can't share your faith because you think you mustbe perfected in every area of your life before you do? We tend to forget that alittle bit of God in our lives is way bigger than a thousand of us.

As webehold God, we start changing little by little. It doesn't happen overnight,but it does happen. The Spiritof God transforms us into the image that He desires forus. From glory to glory, we're changed into what God wants. Let's start to prayand call out. Let's bring glory to His name.

I'm sograteful to God for taking us from death into life because He is the one who gives Hispeople a reason to live. He gives us words to speak, songs to sing, visionsbefore us, and hope for eternity.

Jesushas destroyed the power and the penalty of sin on the cross. We should beeternally grateful to God for what He has done. The Bible tells us that God'smercy is from everlasting to everlasting. No matter how far we might get fromGod, He's still willing to be God to us. He's still ready to show us incrediblemercy because that's who He is.

Let's pray for aspiritual awakening and a moment of mercy forour nation. Let's talk to God and thank Himfor all He has done.

Some so manypeople are in a wilderness time in their lives. Wouldyou be surprised if I told you that the Lorddrew you there?

InJeremiah 31, in a season of terrible difficulty for the people of God, theprophet writes these words in verses two and three: “Thussays the Lord, the people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness.Israel, when I went to give him rest, the Lord has appeared of old to mesaying, ‘Yes, I have loved you with aneverlasting love. Therefore, with loving kindness, I have drawn you.’”

He hasdrawn us this season as a nation into a dry place. We find ourselves in a timewhere the only thing we can do is cry out to God. He has promised that Hewill give us this incredible grace of His presence, power, and redemption in the wilderness.

Proverbs1:5 says, "A wise manwill hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wisecounsel."

In 2 Timothy 2:15, the ApostlePaul exhorted a younger believer to study and know the Word of God so he could have the strength to withstand the false reasonings sent to subverthis faith. We would do well to listen to this advice today.

We cannot live a victorious Christian life onemotions or even on other people's opinions about what God has said or issaying. We must study and know His words for ourselves. It’ssad to say, but many people in the church today nolonger faithfully read their Bibles. I fear for their future. Let's pray forthem.

Psalm150, beginningat verse 3, says this: “Praise Him withthe sound of the trumpet. Praise Him with the lute and harp. Praise Him withthe timbrel and dance. Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes. PraiseHim with the loud cymbals. Praise Him with clashing cymbals. Let everythingthat has breath praise the Lord.”

Howabout determining to sing a new song and a more profound song ofpraise? Psalm 146 tells us that men's words go into the grave with them, butthe words of God live forever. By His promises, we are helped when oppressed,fed when hungry, freed from captivity, raised, shown the way forward, preserved, and delivered from all of our enemies.

The psalmist even tells us to do a happy dance while singing. For real,folks, this can be you. Remember, not only praise; it’s prayer.

Psalm74:4–8:"Your enemies roar in the midst ofyour meeting place. They set up their banners for signs.

They seem like men who lift up axes amongthe thick trees, and now they break down its carved work all at once with axesand hammers. They've set fire to your sanctuary. They defiled the dwellingplace of your name to the ground. They said in their hearts, ‘Let us destroy them altogether.’ They've burned up all the meeting places of God in theland."

Forces came in that destroyed our history and set uptheir ideas of truth as guideposts. Do we not experience that in America today?

Thereare forces of darkness that want to destroy and remove every influence of Godin our nation. We must pray for our country and become a people of God guided by His Truth.

Weneed the knowledge of Christin these troubling times. If you don't know who youare in Christ, you will not make a differenceand won't be able to stand.

There'sa storm coming into this world that will be beyond anything we will ever seeagain in our lifetime. God promises that He will cause us to stand amid the storm when we listen and obey Him. We won't be takendown because Christ is the cornerstone of ourhearts and lives. We are destined to bemiracles in the hands of God. To find us, weneed to know who we are in Christ.

Psalm133:1:"Behold, how good and how pleasantit is for brethren to dwell together in unity."

When we look around the world today, we see violent division almosteverywhere, even in speech. However, when weare united with God, we will automaticallyfind ourselves in unity with one another. Whenwe become disunited with God, we automatically become disunified with each other.

Scripture says that when we walk together inunity, particularly with God, first and foremost, there's an anointing thatsets us apart from other people in this world.The psalmist says that unity brings an actualwatering on the earth. In other words, walkingtogether in harmony with God affects thepeople around us and us.

Today, let's choose to walk together in unity. It's time topray.

Lamentations2:19:“Arise, cry outin the night at the beginning of the watches. Pour out your heart like waterbefore the face of the Lord. Lift your hands toward him for the life of youryoung children who faint from hunger at the head of every street.”

Arecent analysis by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found thatsuicide rates and rates of self-harm among teenage boys and girls have risen at an alarming rate. They further found a direct connectionbetween these rates and social media.

Theproblem exists because young people have substituted electronics for real families—this isnot how God designed us. We need touchable, positive, approachable friendshipsin real life. As the Church of Jesus Christ, wemust reach out to the children of our time and bring them home to the house andthe family of God.

1 Peter 3, beginning atverse 14, says, "But even if youshould suffer for righteousness sake, you are blessed and do not be afraid of theirthreats, nor be troubled. But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and alwaysbe ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope thatis in you, with meekness and fear."

There is no doubt that we're living in troubled times. Somepeople say that terrorism threats and increasing evil are the new normal. Well,for those who have rejected God, this might be somewhat true.

For those who know Jesus, this is the time to be set apartfor God. If you live in amixture, let this be your new normal. Make the break today. For those who do, God promises a heart so filled with hope that others will soonask you why.

Aseverything around us gets darker and darker, we need to ask God for the faith andstrength to continue to take Him at His word. Weneed the power to believe that God still answersprayer. We cannot allow discouragement to come into our hearts as we look atthe state of our nation.

Wemust remember who God is and that He is a God who answers prayer. He still is a God who delivers thecaptives, so pray for Him to set our childrenfree from the darkness trying to swallow them up and throw them into a sea ofconfusion.

Prayfor your families, communities, and enemies, as the scriptures tell us.Pray that the Holy Spirit will enable us to live lives that are now worthy ofHis name.

We live in a world that is dominated by darkness. It’s a day when evil is called good, and good is called evil. Religion is being sneered at, and believers are somehow seen as fallible and deficient in our society. We're seen as the losers of thispresent, enlightened age that doesn't even know if it's male or female. Somehow, we have become the ones with the problem from their perspective.

We must come to aplace of prayer and remain in that place of worship. Don't forsake your prayer meetings or your prayer lifebecause that is where the power of God is.

Wehave to pray to God for our children, marriages, homes, families, and theunborn destined to be slaughtered. Let's lift our voices for them and ask Godto set us free as the Lord once did with the Israelites held captive. We mustgo to the throne of God unashamedly and expect God to answer our prayers as westand in the gap for this generation, our family, community, and workplace.

Let'sallow God to use us to answer a prayer like Moses oncewas to God's people who were in captivity in Egypt. Let's yield our bodies to Him asliving sacrifices for the glory of His nameand the sake of others around us.

Let’s ask the Lord for the boldness to stand in this darkened time.

In Psalm 13:2, listen to whatKing David says: "How long shall I take counsel in my soul havingsorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?"

We are indeed living in a season of sorrow. Opioid addiction,teen suicide, and social division are just three alarm bells going off andtelling us that our nation is in deep trouble. It’s because we have rejected the words and the ways of God. Itis safe to say that our practices and words lead us as a society into defeat.

It's not too late to get up and return. As believers in Christ,we must speak to this generation on God's behalf. It's time for us to step up and be bold.

Jeremiah2,verses 11 and 13: "Has a nation changed its Gods which are not Gods? But my peoplehave changed their glory for what does not profit. For my people have committedtwo evils. They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that canhold no water."

Theprophet Jeremiah wept with a broken heart over the people of his time, who, having forsakenGod, had no idea of the unsolvable hardshipthat lay just before them. The arrogance ofthe stubborn and fallen human heart repeatedly believes, contrary to the evidence of history, that God'sways can be mocked and rejected without consequence.

Todaywe would do well to learn from the ashes of their former societies. In Americatoday, our time is short.

In 1 Timothy 1:12–16. Paul says, “AndI thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted mefaithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, apersecutor, and an [a]insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did itignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant,with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying andworthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to savesinners, of whom I am chief. 16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, thatin me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to thosewho are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.”

Paul'slife was made into an undeniable testimony of the power of God, and the HolySpirit can change you into a new creation who also brings glory to His name.

If you find yourself in the wilderness and don't know how to get out, you might besurprised to know God isblessing you. Because in that place, only one voicematters. We're no longer looking to man to solve our problems or to get us outof this wilderness season. We have a God that has drawn us into this placebecause He goes before us. He is with us, and there He will give us grace andlead us to the place we ought to go.

We can trust that God will guide us through every season ofdifficulty. All we have to do is trust Him, obey and go where He is asking us to go.
