Those in Hell Would Give Everything

The Gospel of Mark, chapter eight, beginning at verse 36: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

I once conducted a funeral in the pauper section of a state cemetery. Indignity abounded from inches deep mud to a running backhoe with the keepers telling us to hurry up. On the top of the hill, in the distance, were headstones that testified to former lives of wealth, power, and even fame. I told the hurting family that day that most of those buried on the hill would give anything to be in this poor man’s place, who found Christ as his Savior and heaven as his home while serving time and dying in prison.

What would a man give in exchange for his soul? Those in hell today would give everything.

It’s time to pray.
