The Lighthouse

Psalms 119, verse 130: "The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple."

For many years, lighthouses have stood as beacons of hope for fearful travelers seeking refuge in a time of storm. I can see the beam offering comfort and hope to those who might be praying for one more chance to live.

I can see something else too. I see the lighthouse keeper daily climbing the stairs to the top of the lighthouse, to make sure that the light is the brightest when it is needed the most. Truly, if he were negligent or if for some reason locked out of the lighthouse, the light would eventually go out.

Jesus said to you and I, that we are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. It's time to let the Word of God in.

It's time to pray.
