Rest For the Depressed

Nehemiah 8:10 says, "Then he said to them, 'Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared for this day as holy to the Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.'"

It is known that depression comes to the human heart when we find ourselves in an actual or perceived hostile environment. The hopelessness and incivility of our present course as a society are undoubtedly contributing to the depths of sorrow and addiction that are spreading rapidly among both young and old in our time.

Whole towns and cities are now in crisis. To the depressed, Jesus offers a joy that wells up from within, of which he is the source. He calls all weary to come to him, where you will find the rest for your heart.

It's time to pray.
