Pushing Back the Darkness
The book of James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.” In other words, if we are asking for something just because we want to consume it upon ourselves, we may not receive what we're asking for in prayer.
However, when our motivation is to live a life that will bring glory to the name of Jesus, we will receive what we ask. When we live in a way that pushes back the darkness that is trying to swallow up the lives of our families, our friends, and our community, then whatever we ask for, we shall receive.
When our motives are about advancing the Kingdom of God and God's plan, we can ask, and it will be His pleasure to give us our request. It's time that we begin to ask God for His will to be done and for the advancement of His Kingdom.
It's time to pray.
