Mixing Leaven With the Strength of God

2 Corinthians, chapter 12, verse 9: "And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

What an incredible thought, that God's strength finds its deepest expression when we become most aware of our weakness. When we think ourselves strong, our tendency, as the Scripture indicates, is to mix the purity and power of God's work in us with the leaven of our own frail and faulty human effort and reasoning. Thus, in effect, robbing ourselves of the pure and divine strength that is ours. That's why Paul says, "I will keep my own weakness before my face. Lest I should rely on any strength other than Christ in me."

It's time to pray.
